A Father's Letter to His Child

Dear Jordan,

This is my first Father’s Day with you. At this point, you’re just a few weeks old. I thought that I would leave this note for you to read a little later, so you can know how I feel at this exact moment in time.

I’ll try to make sense here, but your mom and I have been losing a lot of sleep lately! I guess that’s what we’ve signed up for- losing sleep for a long time? Right now we’re up all night with you- feeding you and soothing you. Heck, sometimes we’re just up staring at you and taking it all in! We are so in love and grateful for our healthy baby that we’re too excited to sleep…

I’m thinking one day, if you’re anything like me, you may get a little scared at night. Any time I got lonely or scared (maybe by a storm or a movie) I always knew I could wake my dad up in the middle of the night to hang out with me until I felt safe again. I hope you know that you can always wake me up if you need me…

Again, if you’re anything like me, when you get even older, you might give your mom and me a few sleepless nights. I know it’ll be scary to let you go off into the great unknown of life and let you make your own choices, make your own friends, and create a life for yourself. I know that we will trust you through all of that, but your dad will still worry. I guess what I’m trying to say is that all these sleepless nights, they will be worth it. Because your dad has something very important to lose sleep over. I love you and thank you for making me a father.

 Love, Dad

Dad, we know you're going to have some sleepless nights. At Muse, our mission is making the rest of them — perfect.
